Session 1

Date of Session: Dec 24, 2021

Volaris was a city defined by the intersection of high magic and industrial grime, a place where opportunity was as thick as the smog. Snowfall dusted the cobblestones like powdered sugar, yet the warmth of a lingering autumn fought back, turning the streets into a slush of icy rain. It was a failed effort to blanket the city in white; instead, the mist painted a gloomy canvas of foggy mornings and clouds that refused to yield their ground.
Ember and Aydriann start their morning aboard the Jolly Trolley, a lighting rail train with cars that serve as taverns. Ember is a fire Genasi, having red skin and lustrous strands of hair, appearing to flicker and sway as if caught in an eternal dance of fire and light. She sat next to Aydriann, a rock gnome that was fair skinned, had short light brown hair and had a mechanical arm placed over where his real arm should have been. Aydriann was born without his right arm and through magical means outside of his unwoven ground home, fashioned a mechanical one. A half elf, Enoki, sat at the bar in the morning car along with Ember and Aydriann who were sitting in a booth a few feet away. The morning train car was one of two cars the J Trolley pulls in morning hours for creatures not believing the 5 o’clock rules. The other train car contains brewery supplies to run the J Trolley where Victor, a human with a tall build, walked out to talk to the barkeep, Baguar. Victor has dark skin, black hair and solid facial stubble accenting the jaw line that displayed a wild spirit beneath a polished exterior. Baguar, a humanoid creature with a lion’s head, wears an elegant black gold vest covering a white dress with black tie. Baguar has gold fur with a hint of black strands mixed in. Medium size and muscular built and Baguar looked to have a positive attitude about himself.
The plan was simple: scout interested creatures on the Jolly Trolley to form a crew and meet with a creature by the name of Morstar. Entry onto the Jolly Trolley only required a drink voucher bought at one of the many stations. “Up Station two”, a Jolly Trolley station located in Naaldin’s mirror was where Ember and Aydriann purchased the voucher as it was the closest to their home in Neverspire, a precinct in Rebirth District.
The meeting with Morstar was set up through Preslynn, a fairy and Ember’s Criminal Contact. Aydriann was seeking a special gem for his creation, Sprocket, and Preslynn was able to find someone, Morstar, who would be given it away in exchange for a job. Morstar wasn’t a name they knew but they trusted Preslynn to deliver.
Enoki was the first to join, without question. A quick “I’ll do it” and “for free” was good enough for Ember and Aydriann. Victor on the other hand had questions of his own and was hesitant. Victor had a crazy home life so the prospects of tagging along didn’t seem too far fetched so decided to go.
At the next stop they proceeded back to Neverspire but before they all could make their meeting with Morstar, their employer, a white cloaked figure, with a weird white clay bear mask, was looking in their direction.
The crew had been walking in Muvara’s path, a precinct in the Centurion district, when they all saw the spirit walker. Enoki, living in this part of the city, explained that the spirit walkers were followers of Muvara and were commonly seen here.
Lowering their guard, they proceeded to the meeting spot. Upon arriving at their neighborhood, a golem by the name of Lily, who sat in a garden in the middle of the crater in their neighborhood, told Ember and Aydriann that they had a visitor. Golems are living creatures considered to be sentient constructs. Lily had been a part of the neighborhood for quite some time. No one knows how long Lily and their garden had been there but Lily’s limbs were always missing. Every day, creatures would come and lay coins in Lily’s garden for they felt sorry for Lily. Ember and Aydriann would, as asked by Lily and in Lily’s words, remove the litter from Lily’s garden.
Ember and Aydriann met with their space mates who were heading out; Korabosch, a half orc, and Krildrish, a dragonborn. The group heads to see Morstar who was standing above the crater near their neighborhood.
Morstar tells the group he has a gem and 250 gold pieces if they would bring him the contents of the 13th train car of the cargo train that goes into the mountain with 12 cars and leaves at 9 o’clock with that 13th car. He would be waiting at the Glorious Morning Glory tavern and inn for them
Morstar leaves the group and the group starts to walk back to discuss next steps. The spirit walker from before had returned and told the group that a spirit followed them. The spirit walker runs at everyone and vanishes in front of everyone’s eyes.
