Session 35
The moon’s reflection performed an entrancing ballet upon the ocean’s surface, crafting a glimmering pathway for the newly anointed airship, the Valiant, as it gracefully navigated the heavens toward an uncharted destination – a slight detour from the critical route leading to Icesyn.
Moments, they embodied the very essence of life in Fornova. It was only moments ago, Ember and Aydriann had bared truths that unraveled mysteries they had held in the name of their friendship.
In a voice laden with poignant vulnerability, Venoxyin recounted the unrelenting persecution she had endured as a dhamphir, straddling the precarious divide between two worlds, perpetually misunderstood and hunted.
Her narrative took a somber turn as she delved into the tragic fate that had befallen her family – a mother, a vampire; a father, human; and a sister, another dhamphir. A single act of treachery, where a vampire had disclosed their family’s whereabouts to vampire hunters, culminated in the ruthless massacre of her kin.
Venoxyin nursing an unwavering abhorrence for vampires, her heart transformed into a seething crucible of righteous fury, her soul eternally scarred by indescribable loss.
Preslynn, too, laid bare her soul to her companions, revealing the nature of her patronage – a pact that bound her to an arch fey named Murin. Her identity as a raven fairy, a being of ethereal grace and shadow, wove yet another strand into the intricate tapestry of the shared narrative.
Meanwhile, a red dog observed Victor and Melina, its gaze carrying a weight of significance that transcended its canine form. Victor’s gaze fixated on the horizon, his thoughts wandering. Death had offered him a peculiar sense of catharsis, a temptation to linger in its embrace, reluctant to return to the path the fates had laid before him. Yet, by some twist of destiny, he find himself here, standing alongside Melina. She reveals a depth of compassion that creature could dismiss, an emotion too profound to discard casually. Their shared purpose…to rescue the family…loomed large, an immense weight that had descended upon him the very moment life was breathed back into his being.
Qadas, a Kairlae personifying the Fool in a game of fate with fortunes card’s, the free spirit brimming with boundless enthusiasm for adventure, cast a look upon Alary, his eyes reflecting wonderment and something more – an enigmatic spark of curiosity and fascination.
While conversing with Qadas, Alary discovered that he hailed from Libara, a sun-kissed realm nestled within the Faelands’ temperate climes. Qadas recounted how he had relocated to Fornova after the catastrophic destruction of the floating island that once cradled Libara.
Opting to conclude the evening with a dose of spirits, the group ventured to the Lounge, where Aydriann encountered the bartender, Malachi Emberthorn. Malachi kindly advised Aydriann against pilfering their libations, leading to an enjoyable respite as the group indulged in the night’s merriment. Notably, Ember showcased her remarkable ability to absorb alcohol, evanescently incorporating it into her form. The night unfolded in spirited revelry, and as dawn approached, Aydriann sought out a remedy for his impending hangover.
In the ship’s Galley, he encountered Eleanor, a wise halfling woman who served as the vessel’s cook. She generously provided Aydriann with a remedy to alleviate his discomfort.
Over the subsequent three days aboard the ship, Ember reunited with Rain and Lily in the ship’s conservatory, where they engaged in contemplation. Ember shared her desire to seek answers from Xanthos, and Rain, in turn, offered her insights. In an attempt to connect with Xanthos, Ember summoned Poe, who imparted some cryptic information before departing. The revelation surfaced that Eistrae, before its transformation into Wizards Folly, was a place fraught with events surrounding Sypha’s quest to thwart Edmeera.
Alary embarked on his own pursuit of knowledge, unearthing details about Muvara. His research hinted at mortals potentially bearing a trace of divine blood known as ‘Leaden Blood,’ and he postulated a connection between the gods and Jaz.
Aydriann, during his wanderings, stumbled upon the Aether Chamber, where he encountered Zaelira Shadoweaver, a drow who served as the ship’s aethermancer, overseeing its aetheric operations.
Guided by Poe’s cryptic advice, the group set their sights on the Kaicrumao at the Mythlight campus…a repository of history containing Fornova’s most extensive library, safeguarded with utmost diligence.
Upon reaching their destination, they encountered an ethereal grove encircling a solitary edifice. Emerging from within were Chlo, an archon, Kat, a shape-shifting werecreature, and Lia, an eladrin. In their company, they discovered that they had stumbled upon judges, and curiosity led them to converse.
Lynesse, the Inquisitor judge, noted an absence of Ember’s thoughts and sought a private conversation. In the presence of Aydriann, Ember listened intently as Lynessa conveyed a warning. Cassara, it appeared, was a devoted follower of Edmeera and was relentlessly pursuing Ember for the coveted book. Lynessa revealed that Cassara’s motivations were entangled with the safety of her daughter, whom Edmeera had placed in peril.
Further revelations unfolded, as Arturious and Vossler, archons of Hallonia, shared their forbidden love, leading to Arturious’s fall from grace and their subsequent exile to the earthly realm.
Aydriann embarked on a journey with Jaz, unearthing the tragic narrative of Chlo, Kat, Lia, Fernand, Celeste, Catline, Malith, and the world they hailed from…a world consumed by annihilation. Jaz recounted the fateful casting of ‘Final Wish’ by Fernand, Catline, Celeste, and Malith, a desperate spell that breathed life back into Fornova, granting Chlo and Kat a chance at existence.
