Session 53
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
Chaos, profane creature of entropy - its bloody tendrils as the harbingers of destruction the entire spheres dread. And yet, within its mad, fractal rhythms lurks deliverance most improbable, a searing path to sunder the chains of stagnation.
A flame unbound can lay waste with impartial malice, a conflagration of annihilating apathy that consumes hopes and histories alike beneath its pyre-bright tsunami. Negligence births such all-devouring cataclysms from the smallest, smoldering spark left to wanton propagation. Carelessness is the sin that awakens the flame’s most voracious, undiscriminating rapacity.
But a flame masterfully governed becomes the extension of a lucid will - its radiant fury focused into an incandescent lancer that excises rot with merciless precision. For those with the fortitude to wield its scathing brilliance, the fire’s ravaging heat renders forgiveness as an extraneous concept. Let those marked for immolation beg for mercy from the ashes, for a servant of purifying combustion shows no quarter to that which must be unmade.
A minstrel’s verse by M.R.
As Adrian Blackwood walked back from flipping the lever to open the stone door entrance to the waterfall cavern, Dax created a minor illusion of himself. He then disguised himself like Elira and prepared to introduce himself as a follower of Noite.
Aydriann hid behind the minor illusion but he got ready for it and things went bad. Adrian told Dax, who was in disguise, that he looked a lot like the Actual Elira. Adrian explained that he knew her from afar and that she was an outcast like him. After talking for a while, Dax in disguise was able to convince Adrian they could stay and get shelter. Adrian asked a small favor to stand guard for five minutes when he steps away to which the group took this opportunity to sneak into the trial which lay a mile inside the waterfall cavern.
Peach is the first to enter the trial. A large cavern with a ravine filled with thick ice fog. A bridge goes across the ravine which Peach flies over to get a better view. He notices that a pair of eyes are staying at him when he gets halfway across the bridge.
With a rope everyone makes it down to the trial and meets up with Peach to talk strategy. Peach and Orianna decide to head down the ravine into the ice fog which blinds their sight. They continue while Dax steps onto the bridge. Orianna and Peach eventually make it down to the bottom of the ravine. They discover the fog lets up the further they go. Dax’s curiosity gets the better of him and he steps across the bridge which causes a chain of events.
The ice fog disappears and a large ice creature jumps out of the ground and attacks Dax.
