Session 126

Part 1: Triage Under Pressure
Section titled “Part 1: Triage Under Pressure”With Orianna down, Ember upcasts Cure Wounds to revive her (35 HP) and screens with Mirror Step after-images. Orianna, still on the ground, casts Ray of Enfeeblement - the worm saves but is left with disadvantage - and uses Lay on Hands on herself. The worm teleports to the backline and hammers Peach, who spends his reaction on Deflect Attacks to cut the worst strike from 28 down to 6. Dax Misty Steps out of melee, positioning for a wide support spell.
Part 2: The Aether-Flux Breath
Section titled “Part 2: The Aether-Flux Breath”Safely repositioned, Dax drops a 30-foot Beacon of Hope to boost the party’s healing. Mack plinks from range with her crossbow. Peach, still poisoned, overcomes the disadvantage to land a heavy hit (33 damage), keeping the worm’s healing locked down, then takes Patient Defense and retreats - layering his Rage resistance and Deflect Attacks to survive a 56-damage opportunity attack down to 15.
The worm exhales its Aether-Flux Breath, a cone forcing a DC 22 Constitution save against 62 force damage. Orianna and Mack resist (helped by Orianna’s Aura of Protection), but Ember fails and drops, and Dax fails too - and though he reduces the damage, the blast shatters his concentration, dropping his support buff.
Part 3: System-Wide Reboot
Section titled “Part 3: System-Wide Reboot”With Ember, Peach, and Dax all down, Aydriann revives Dax with Cure Wounds. Orianna Misty Steps in and strikes the worm. It retaliates on her for 31 piercing. Then Dax, back on his feet, unleashes a party-wide heal for 44 HP, reviving Peach and Ember at once and bringing the whole party back online. The worm screams again (DC 18 Intelligence psychic), stripping concentration and forcing everyone to reposition.
Part 4: The Kill and the Planar Shift
Section titled “Part 4: The Kill and the Planar Shift”The worm blinks in front of Aydriann and Orianna. Aydriann’s Lightning Bolt lands for 32. Ember Mirror Steps in for chip damage. Finally Orianna draws her greatsword, lands a clean strike, and the compounding radiant and slashing damage overwhelms the Aether-Gorged Great Worm at last - the killing blow ends the Tier 3 threat.
But the death of a mythic entity inside the wild-magic zone triggers an anomaly. A blind DC 18 save catches the whole party in a flash of aetheric light, warping reality and teleporting them out of the cavern into an endless, uncharted expanse of desolate sand. They’ve also lost their guide: the Nyxlight compass housing the spirit boy, Lux, has its tether severed, and his light flickers and dies. They lock down their position and take a short rest with a Prayer of Healing.
During the rest, the ambient death-radiation reboots the broken magi-tech device Dax had salvaged. It reveals its true form - the Marrow-Burn Conduit, a Very Rare bracer that lets Dax use his reaction to cast a healing spell when an ally within 60 feet drops to 0, at the cost of one level of Exhaustion each time.
With resources partly restored and the new bracer equipped, the party spots an outpost in the distance, manned by a strange chimera-like entity - part fox, part human. They choose to approach the guard tower peacefully rather than fight, and the session ends.
