Session 117
The Start
Section titled “The Start”Under the twin moons Estrella and Esmerai, the Tent City lies in cold sapphire light. Ember, Aydriann, and Rosibynne move through it, resolved not to sign the Writ. Then the air pressure drops and a violent gale slams through the market, tearing loose tarps and crates into the dark. In the roar, Muvara’s faint voice reaches Ember’s mind: she is alive. Keyvath is alive.
The Threat
Section titled “The Threat”A foreign intent forces its way into Aydriann’s mind - Edmeera, or rather her intent. She lays out a bargain with cold logic: Venoxyin returned, in exchange for Ember. Aydriann doesn’t bargain. “Go wait to die.” As she withdraws, Edmeera notices Corsten is in the mortal realm and not the Dark, and pauses on it. Then she says goodbye, and Aydriann returns to himself as the atmosphere of Craze Pass shifts.
The Smugglers (Aydriann, Ember, Rosibynne)
Section titled “The Smugglers (Aydriann, Ember, Rosibynne)”A massive steel-plated creature appears, orbited by six floating mirrors that move with predatory instinct. Aydriann opens with Banishment - it fails - and the creature’s flail batters the group. Ember spots the trick: the mirrors are reflectors, catching any magic cast at the Knight and hurling it back. She casts Steel Wind Strike, destroying two mirrors, and Rosibynne follows with a Fireball (“Ignis”) that overwhelms and shatters the rest, stripping the Knight’s defense. Ember locks it down with Hold Monster. With it paralyzed, Aydriann channels Disintegrate - seventy-seven damage, armor pouring away as gray dust - yet the Knight, bloodied and broken, impossibly still stands as Rosibynne’s fire spreads.
Shifting Sands (Mack, Dax, Orianna)
Section titled “Shifting Sands (Mack, Dax, Orianna)”A crossbow bolt of lightning strikes the earth. Moments after warning Mack that the place was growing more dangerous, Hesina lies dead, the bolt through her heart. The Scrappers emerge from the shadows. Mack is the wall, but the Scrapper Captain wields a two-clawed pole built to unmake her, while snipers pour bolts into her until she staggers. Dax casts Slow over the Scrappers, breaking their multi-strike rhythm and buying seconds. Orianna kneels beside Mack and channels devotion, pouring her own vitality into Mack to knit her components and stop the internal bleed. Mack revives - but the fight grinds on.
The Duel (Peach)
Section titled “The Duel (Peach)”Peach is alone, except for a pair of yellow eyes watching him: Vela, the Edmeerian assassin - winged, mocking his heritage. He blurs across the rooftops with a monk’s speed, but Vela matches him; she doesn’t run, she simply arrives, her wings like blades. Her necrotic touch nearly paralyzes him. Realizing he can’t outrun her, Peach draws the Twilight Blade - not to cut her flesh, but to sever her Connection to the spiritual realm. “No,” he commands. He stumbles back, taps his Ki to mend his wounds, and stands ready as Vela plans her next move.
