Session 7
“I almost died” - Enoki
An arrow shoots through the air from an unknown source. Both the arrow from the unknown attacker and a loud thunderous wave sends two of the white hooded figures to the front of the train to get it on its way faster than scheduled. Two other guards start up the slope to find the unknown attacker. The fifth guard runs towards the door of the 13th car.
Enoki shoots a quick glance from a snow covered hiding place to Ember who motions to come to the hatch and jump in. Enoki jumps down onto the train, getting a confused look from both guards climbing the slope as he runs quickly towards the hatch. Both Ember and Enoki hop through the hatch and down into the train car where the three golems stand, circling Aydriann’s body. Ember finds a great opportunity to knock an arrow and let it loose. The arrow finds its target in the throat of one of the golems. Enoki, with great synergy, punched the arrow further causing one of the golems to fall.
Victor meanwhile, stood up from his snow covered hiding place and ran towards the guard that was making haste to the door of the 13th car. The guard turned to face victor only to face his imminent demise. Victor, through the use of his runes, grew his size and strength to that of a lesser giant and produced a flame strike with his morning star. The combination of violent acts left a spray of carnage onto the train car nearby; a guard no longer recognizable as a creature of this world.
Meanwhile, Enoki was now exposed to the attacks of the two other golems after making a strong one of his own. The two with their arm blades slashed at Enoki with one making a critical strike. Bloody and near death, Enoki remained stoic in stance and was able to see one of the armblade attacks coming in a predictive assessment. He grabbed the arm of the golem and with momentum of the attack, was able to jam the blade into the floor.
Ember rained more shoots but they were unfortunately missing their intended targets. Victor opened the train car door to join the fight but failed to close it behind him. Another golem is laid to rest as the group focuses their attention towards the last one.
The last golem’s life ends with an arrow to the middle of the forehead from a black cloaked hooded figure. With the train car door open, the hooded figure ran into the train car, drawing his sword, threatening Enoki’s life and offering a healing potion for Aydriann’s if they, in exchange for the book. Enoki spat in the figure’s face in disgust and defiance. The figure made a quick stab with his short sword but missed the mark and escaped as the group stayed in the train car and closed the door.
Ember went to work on the safe door while Victor and Enoki checked on Aydriann who seemed stable. Ember was able to pick the lock with expert precision. She opened the safe door only to reveal an opened chest which contained a plant in a glass container and a note with three coins but no book!!! The plant was a dwarfs blade, a rare medicinal flora. The note seemed to say the book belonged to someone called the Dead One and had claimed it recently. The three platinum coins had unique symbols melted into them. One was an owl of the syndicate. Another was a shield with scales that signified the Judges. The last was an eye with a teardrop, the one the spirit walkers use to honor Muvara, goddex of loss and wisdom.
