Session 59
Red Crystal Visions
Section titled “Red Crystal Visions”The fog lay heavy upon the streets of Volaris, a shroud of grey that swallowed the world whole. Creatures of every shape and size moved like shadows in the mist, their footsteps muffled by the blanket of gloom. Among them, Muvara walked, their head bowed beneath the porcelain mask of a bear, a ghost drifting through a world of the living. The robes of a spirit walker hung loose upon their slight frame, woolen and dark as if the fabric itself wished to disappear into the fog.
Without warning, a hulking figure loomed out of the mist, a Vyscar with scales the color of sickly moss. He collided with Muvara, his massive shoulder slamming into them with all the grace of a battering ram. The impact shattered the mask, sending it clattering to the cobblestones, where it broke first in two, then into a dozen shards beneath the careless feet of passersby.
Muvara staggered, the world spinning as they were thrown against the stone wall of a nearby building. Blood welled at their nose, a crimson stream that dripped onto the black wool of their robe, staining it like a scar. Slumped against the wall, they stared down, just as the Vyscar turned back, a sneer curling his lip.
“Watch where you’re walking, spirit freak,” he snarled, his voice thick with contempt. He spat at Muvara’s feet, the glob of saliva mingling with the dust. “Ugly ghost, you picked the wrong day to run into me.”
The Vyscar was a beast of a creature, towering above even the largest of men. A jagged scar ran down the side of his face, and an eye patch covered the ruin of his left eye, a testament to a life lived in violence. Before Muvara could muster a reply, the Vyscar vanished abruptly, leaving behind only a silhouette of snow.
Yeivesa appeared in his wake, his presence as silent as death. “My child, are you hurt?” he asked, his voice soft as snow.
Muvara shook their head, their thin white hair falling across their pale face. Their milky eyes, void of color, met Yeivesa’s gaze. “It’s nothing,” they murmured, wiping at the blood that continued to flow freely. “You didn’t have to banish him, Yeivesa. He was just having a bad day. And I’m not yours to protect.”
Yeivesa’s face softened, though there was an unspoken sadness in his eyes. “I know you’re not my child,” he said quietly.
Muvara looked up at Yeivesa. “I am sorry. I spoke insensitively. I cherish the name you gave me, Rain, not just for the day I was conceived, but because I felt you as a mortal parent.”
Yeivesa smiled to hide his emotions. “We are nothing. It is the rain that will fill the void. Come, we must go before the creature reappears.”
The two moved on, a pair of shadows in a city of ghosts. As they passed by a shop window, Muvara caught sight of their reflection, blurred and distorted in the glass. They paused, wiping the blood from their face, and with a quiet sigh, shifted. Their form melted away, replaced by another…Preslynn, but larger, the features slightly altered as if seen through a dream. A flush of red crept into their pale cheeks, but as quickly as the change came, it faded, and Muvara returned to their original self.
Muvara looked back at the reflection once more, and with determination, changed into another form. They gave themselves red lips and beautiful red eyes. Muvara toned their skin to be a purer tone and changed their hair to a short pixie cut with a long golden bang that went across their forehead.
They lingered a moment longer, then reached into their satchel and drew out two masks. The day of the spirit walk, a memory now, and yet as vivid as if it were happening all over again. With a final glance at the window, Muvara vanished into the fog, as the vision faded into nothingness.
What’s Going On Dax
Section titled “What’s Going On Dax”Now Dax looks at everyone while being restrained by Judgement, a sword whip gifted to Ember by the god of Death, Xanthos. The truth spilled out of the Ellara with ease. Ember looks at Dax with concern, “Dis Fungar , how do we know when he switches to Gar?” Dax looks around, as he thinks about a plan to fix this predicament. “I know, we could think of a safeword, or I mean a word that would be like a passcode to if Gar is here or if Fungar is present. So, like when you tell me dumbass, I say poopybutt.” Mack with a slight annoyance in her voice, “But what if Gar is listening right now, how will this solve the issue? Especially since the issue is my arm, being taken from my body.” Ember realizing that Judgement could only hold Dax for so long, asks another question, “Where did you meet Fungar?” Dax sighed with the air of a complicated past, shoulders sunk in sync with head tilting down to look at the floor. Dax answers while keeping his charm and wit, “We met when I was a young adventurer and with a group of people that were similar in ideals.” Mack interrupts, “You should tell them about the temple.” Dax still restrained, nods goofily, “Uh yeah, yup, was getting to that part. I found a bag and Fungar was in it and we made a deal and the rest is history.” Ember is quick with a response, “The bag, you not concerned it is a curse?” Dax casually replies, “I mean its probably from the Dark World Aydriann uses Editic memory to recall the dark world and that curse objects from that world can be placed in Fornova on purpose. Ember lets Dax goes but reminds him that everyone is watching him.
Follow the blood
Section titled “Follow the blood”everyone heads to the engine compartment. Venoxyin Hyaro seems dead. Aydriann throws a blade at Christine and misses and wakes up Venoxyin from her lathergic state. Venoxyin calms Christine down enough for Preslynn to administer the vial of blood with Zyvrenth. Christine calms down and but is still saddened by having almost killed Venoxyin. Aydriann upset with Venoxyin, yells at her about recklessness and storms out. Venoxyin embarrassed, says she is ok to everyone else.
