Session 62

The silence hung thick in the air, as everyone waited for Dax and Ember. An hour slipped by, and still no sign of them. Aydriann, forgetting himself in his rising panic, shouted Ember’s name, trying vainly to reach her with a Sending spell. Nothing. He could no longer pull from the ley lines, leaving only the empty echo of his voice. Mack stood beside him, their usual banter gone, the absence of their partners a heavy ache neither could shake.

A shadow of sorrow passed over them, their bond stretched thin. Orianna and Peach, the twins, exchanged glances, their faces etched with a quiet understanding of what the others feared but dared not speak aloud. Still catching her breath after escaping her hell, Gaute seemed the only one relieved, her eyes betraying a glimmer of gratitude for her freedom.

Aydriann, ever restless, approached her with a small leather bag. Inside, glimmering like shattered starlight, were prismatic dragon scales. “Can you make something of these?” he asked, voice low, desperate for any distraction from the gnawing uncertainty. Gaute nodded, her fingers tracing the edges of the scales, promising to try, before she disappeared below the deck of The Valiant, leaving them all to wait for a fate they could not see.

The group converses on what to do next as the fog of Icesyn lifts. Meanwhile, Dax and Ember have a chat with a magical painter by the name of Aqol na Laru. Poe shows up to check to make sure that Ember is ok which causes Aqol to have a minor freak out and annoys Ember. Ember doesn’t want to be painted. Poe departs once Ember confirms she is ok. Dax converses with Aqol and finds out that he is a student of the House of Inspire practicing magical painting
