Session 83

03/01/2025

  • Group was tethered to Thalvrenna that would cause necrotic damage and give her temporary hit points.
  • Thalvrenna grew desperate and fire off shadowy tendril attacks on Orianna that eventually killed her.
  • Thalvrenna took the sword off of Orianna and tried to flee.
  • The group casted banishment and circled her spot where she would return.
  • With ready attacks, the group kills Thalvrenna.

The sun slouched against the horizon, its dying rays casting long, amber shadows over the bustling circus grounds. The air, once thick with heat and the scent of spun sugar, now eased into the coolness of evening. Stray wisps of laughter lingered, fading into the twilight like ghosts of joy.
Ramond Dumfy trudged along the dusty path, a suitcase nearly as large as himself clutched in both hands. His floppy, pointed ears drooped slightly beneath a worn top hat that threatened to slip sideways. His beard, a warm, gentle brown, contrasted with the dark hair beneath his hat…now peppered with strands of silver that whispered of creeping age. His blue eyes still held a sparkle, a bit of mischief and kindness behind the lines of years gone by.
The suitcase dragged along the ground, each step a struggle against its weight. It seemed almost absurd that such a small figure could manage it, yet Ramond moved with the quiet persistence of someone long accustomed to heavy burdens. The magic carriage awaited him at the edge of the grounds, a horseless contraption that hummed softly with arcane energy. The driver, a broad-shouldered man with a glassy stare, sat atop the cab, reins in hand despite the lack of any beast to guide.
Ramond hefted the suitcase onto the carriage, his knees creaking, and turned to find Dax standing there, breathless. Dax, with a mop of unruly hair and eyes that still believed in wonder.
Ramond offered a smile, warm yet edged with something sharp and quiet. “I was trying not to make a scene,” he said, the words soft but firm. He hadn’t wanted goodbyes.

Mack felt an inexplicable pull toward the amulet…its beauty twisted and alluring…that had once adorned Thalvrenna’s neck. It whispered to her, a silent voice plucking softly at curious threads woven deep within her metal bones.
She reached out, fingertips trembling in anticipation, brushing the amulet.
In that instant, the amulet ignited in violent arcane energy, dark and profane. An unseen force seized Mack’s essence, siphoning away her being as fuel for something dark and occult. From the amulet’s pull, Mack’s previous form was torn from her metallic body, a ghostly echo…..a silhouette of the woman she’d once been, glowing faintly with memories long buried.
As the ephemeral shade of Mack’s former self was drawn forth to fuel Thalvrenna’s rebirth, it shimmered faintly, caught in the fragile space between realms. Thalvrenna inhaled sharply, reclaimed from oblivion, restored by the sacrifice of another’s essence.
