Session 3
Ember and Enoki catch a lighting train to the mountain station near the spot of the heist. Ember and Enoki sit inside one of the train cars with two Judges sitting near the two of them. Judges are the city guards of Volaris. It was common to see them in pairs as the normal structure was to have an Enforcer and an Inquisitor. The Enforcer was the one in charge of defending and delivering justice. The Inquisitor was in charge of getting proof from memories through magical means.
Ember takes an opportunity and buys a drink and offers it to the ticket attendant aboard the train in exchange for information. She asks the attendant if she can see the front of the train but the attendant worries that he’ll get in trouble. Ember is able to persuade him into letting her see the front of the train at the next stop. When the train gets to the next stop, they head to the front of the train and talk to the conductor of the train, Terrabol, a male elephant humanoid.
Meanwhile, Fhayra pays a visit to Aydriann and offers an invitation to celebrate seasons day in the underground, the name given to the underlying areas of the city. Seasons day is the first day of each year and it celebrates the new season. Fhayra wants Ember and Korabosch to come as well. Aydriann asks what Fhayra does for a living. Fhayra is an outcaste and works illegally so she doesn’t answer Aydriann’s question politely.
Victor runs into Hawk Brimstone, his father. Hawk is upset with Victor but his anger subsides as Victor gives him an explanation that he was doing tasks that a “winter herald” would do. Hawk becomes proud of Victor at that moment and takes Victor’s late deliveries. Hawk tells Victor to go see his mom, Colette Brimstone, and his sisters, Melina and Jess Brimstone. Victor goes home and when he gets there, he says hello to his mom and lets her know he’ll not be at the pub tonight because he’s doing something without going into too much detail. Colette, says she’ll cover for him as there is an unspoken conversation of the craziness that goes on in the distillery.
Back at the train, after learning the inner workings of the train from Terrabol, Ember and Enoki head back to their seats. Enoki noticed the judges looking in their direction. Ember nods her head to be polite and has a seat with Enoki. Feeling brave and realizing, information is power, Ember takes a risk and moves to a seat that is two away from the Judges.
Ember hears the Judges speak of corrupt ones inside of the Judge organization. Ember also overhears the female elf judge with brown hair and green eyes telling the male human judge with brown hair and brown facial hair that she heard the Genasi thoughts. Ember assumes it’s her as this judge says the Genasi had been thinking about the train and location of a heist. Further into the conversation it is revealed that this location also seemed important to the judges as well as they were tracking the syndicate.
