Session 122

Feb 21, 2026

The session opens at the top of Craze Pass, the vertical city that serves as the lock on the door to Wizard’s Folly. Facing a slow queue for the main elevator down to the Meridian Tier, the party bypasses it entirely. To cover the 800-foot drop, they split by method: Dax makes a sheer acrobatic drop and lands atop the descending elevator car (Acrobatics 17); Ember and Mack fold the distance with Dimension Door, leaving a vacuum pop in their wake; Aydriann and Orianna glide down on the city’s thermal drafts. They reconvene in the amber-lit, cobblestoned lower tier, skipping the delay entirely.

II. The “Logistics” Front & The Fiery Distraction

Section titled “II. The “Logistics” Front & The Fiery Distraction”

Using Mack’s navigation (Survival 25), the party finds a reinforced building labeled “Logistics and Cartography” - the suspected front for the Shifting Sands syndicate. To get inside past the city’s automated defenses, Ember sets a distraction with Produce Flame and feigns panic, while Orianna (taking the Help action) pretends to smother it with her cloak, letting the flames spread. The fire triggers an Adjudicator - a heavy aether-brass construct bound by contract magic - which materializes, smothers the cloak with fire-retardant sand, and confiscates the candle. Working in the blind spot of that chaos, Dax picks the facility’s lock, layering Guidance and Bardic Inspiration over his tools to beat the DC with a 36.

III. The Shifting Sands Interrogation & Vyre

Section titled “III. The Shifting Sands Interrogation & Vyre”

Inside, Aydriann ritual-casts Detect Magic (via Ritual Caster, no slot spent) and isolates a dense aura from a bookcase built into the canyon wall. An Arcana check confirms the magic is foreign - neither the industrial hum of Fornovian magitech nor the crystalline structure of Eden-tech. Meanwhile, outside, a Yashara operative named Vyre intercepts Ember. Following syndicate protocol, Vyre demands confirmation of Mack’s identity before committing resources and tells the party to retrieve an operative named Ravynne from The Grit and Halo tavern to perform the verification. To move through the tier without alerting Adjudicator patrols, Dax casts Pass Without Trace, giving the group a stealth average of 29.

IV. Lelune’s Loophole (The Twilight Bond)

Section titled “IV. Lelune’s Loophole (The Twilight Bond)”

As they move, Lelune opens a telepathic channel with Peach about the inefficiency of Twilight’s daily blood tithe. She offers a “soft break” on the curse: nullifying the daily requirement to kill, at the cost of permanently severing the blade’s teleportation ability. The catch - to activate it, Peach must formally converse with the “Anchor” he bonded the weapon to. Rather than reveal who that is, Peach plans an exploit: he’ll have a formal conversation with every member of the party, guaranteeing he speaks with the Anchor without singling them out.

The party finds Ravynne in The Grit and Halo, badly drunk and useless in a fight. Rather than wait it out, Aydriann casts Lesser Restoration to accelerate her metabolism and cure the Poisoned condition. Jarred sober, Ravynne runs the verification for Mack and confirms his identity. She then lays out the Shifting Sands’ main problem: the Eldon Order has used its economic weight to monopolize the specific arcane components needed to build the barrier-breaking device.

VI. The Oculograph & Venoxyin’s Confession

Section titled “VI. The Oculograph & Venoxyin’s Confession”

Back at the Logistics front, Ravynne opens the hidden vault by humming a specific Fae-resonant tone that vibrates the lock open. Inside, she powers an “Oculograph,” an aether-fueled recording device. The projection shows Venoxyin’s final moments before leaving for Eden, laying bare her decline: believing her presence was a contagion to those she cared for, she confesses that stealing the blueprints was a desperate gamble to save Charlotte and prove her own worth, and her last instruction is for the party to erase her from their memories if she fails. Overcome with grief, Aydriann lashes out at Mack with Shocking Grasp, blaming Mack’s earlier words for seeding Venoxyin’s thinking.

VII. Mechanics of the Folly & The Light-Path

Section titled “VII. Mechanics of the Folly & The Light-Path”

To breach the Eden barrier, the party settles their required materials for the Lumen-Harmonic Attenuator into three objectives:

  1. The Magitech Focus: procure a Prismatic Lens Array and Resonant Gyro from a Drift Bazaar merchant named Sergei to calibrate the device’s output.
  2. The Radiation Shielding: harvest “Lennin” crystals - null-aether housings to integrate into their armor as Faraday cages against Wizard’s Folly’s ambient radiation and the mutations it causes.
  3. The Arcane Core: secure a power supply able to sustain the breach - either one of the four elemental Hearts that propel Fornova’s roaming cities, or the volatile “Eye” of the Folly itself.

Trying to bypass that material cost, Aydriann summons the spirit boy bound within the Nyxlight Shard. Reasoning that the Sol blade had breached the barrier using condensed light, he proposes using the spirit as a “lightning rod” to channel a light-based spell into Eden and open communication with Venoxyin. But the boy confirms that routing his fragile spirit into the sealed density of Eden would destroy him permanently. Aydriann is left weighing that brutal cost.
