Session 56
A fire crackles in a dimly lit room. Two stand in front of a writing desk. One is an elderly male human by the name of Thomas Mair. The other was a young acolyte, perhaps a student of the Kaicrumao.
“The words, once put to parchment, take on a life of their own,” Thomas Mair rasped, a voice carrying the weight of hard-earned wisdom.
“But how can that be?” the acolyte asked, eyes wide with curiosity. “Do not the words simply give voice to your vision, your intent as the creator?”
The old man shook his grizzled head, a faint smile playing across his lips. “No, no…that is the novice’s folly, to think the meaning remains tethered to the author.”
He leaned forward, the flames of the hearth sending flickering shadows dancing across his face, carved like an ancient monument to weathered wisdom. “The true sorcery lies not in the writing, but in the reading. For each pair of eyes that descends upon the text will find themselves embarking upon a journey uniquely their own.”
“Some will delight in fanciful tales spun from the threads I’ve laid down, carried away by imaginings I could scarcely have fathomed.” His gaze grew distant at this. “While others may find strange comfort in familiar turns of phrase that resonate in ways even I cannot unriddle.”
A log shifted then, sending up a shower of embers, and the writer’s expression turned as grave as a tempest. “And make no mistake - there will be those unfortunate few who find themselves haunted, plagued by thoughts and images drawn from the darker weavings of my loom.” A weary sigh escaped him.
“The story,” he concluded, “belongs not to me once spoken aloud and committed to the page. It is forever remade anew with each soul who receives it into their inner world. An ever-shifting kaleidoscope of experiences, all sprouted from the scattered seeds my tales have sown.”
The acolyte could only nod. … A Minstrel’s Verse M.R.
As the frosty shards danced upon her skin, Melina beheld the Syn tree, its branches now animate and writhing like a serpent in the throes of some ancient, mystical agony. The Star Blade, Sol, once a relic of forgotten lore, had been disturbed, unleashing a cascade of events that have shaken the very foundations of Fornova.
Unbeknownst to Melina - Ember and Peach, whisper secrets with Tavina, the entity bound to the star blade, of the world becoming frozen.
Peach was given the star blade by Ember who now bore the scars of a burning radiant light, her skin seared and blistered like the aftermath of radiation, from this blade. Such power yet in its current form, is dormant.
Now before all of the group stood three deities, their presence as imposing as the mountains themselves: Jazouhr, Edmeera, and Xanthos. The latter, his voice deep with an infinite melancholy, proposed a terrible exchange: Sirius, the brother of the twins, in exchange for the presence of Muvara. Muvara was born a deity without a domain. The record written in leaden blood states Muvara would be killed by one such as Edmeera because a domain doesn’t protect Muvara.
Edmeera’s eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing, as she looked at all occupants. Aydriann attempted to message Sirius, but Edmeera quickly dispatched any magic that would be cast like a candle in a gale. “Sirius is marked for death,” she declared, her voice cold as the winter’s snow, “for failing to vanquish you and claim the weapon.“ Now Edmeera takes a pause looking at Aydriann. “Does it know its fate Jazouhr.” The twitch of a smile from Edmeera is so quick that one might miss it if not paying attention.
Peach takes out two and Mack takes out the flying foe as the frosty shards danced upon her skin, Melina Brimstone beheld the Syn Tree, its branches now animate and writhing like a serpent in the throes of some ancient, mystical agony. The Star blade, Sol, once a relic of forgotten lore, had been disturbed, unleashing a cascade of events that have shaken the very foundations of Fornova. Unbeknownst to Melina Brimstone - Ember and Peach Sunset, whisper secrets with Tavina, the entity bound to the star blade, of the world becoming frozen. Peach was given the star blade by Ember who now bore the scars of a burning radiant light, her skin, on her neck, seared and blistered like the aftermath of radiation, from this blade. Such power yet in its current form, dormant. Now before all of the group stood three deities, their presence as imposing as the mountains themselves: Jazouhr, Edmeera, and Xanthos. The latter, his voice deep with an infinite melancholy, proposed a terrible exchange: Sirius Melantha, the brother of the twins, in exchange for the presence of Muvara. Muvara, born a deity without a domain. The record written in Leaden Blood stating Muvara would be killed by one such as Edmeera, because Muvara isn’t protected by a domain. Edmeera’s eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing, as she looked at all occupants. Aydriann, attempted to message Sirius, but Edmeera’s quickly dispatched any magic that would be cast like a candle in a gale. “Sirius is marked for death,” she declared, her voice cold as the winter’s snow, “for failing to vanquish you and failing to claim the weapon.“ Now Edmeera takes a pause looking at Aydriann. “Does it know its fate Jazouhr.” Twitch of a smile from Edmeera is quick that one might miss it if not paying attention.
Mack’s Vision
Jazouhr looks towards Mack MK-9, giving her a slight grin. In the head of Mack, a voice that sounds like Jaz says, “you are seeing things aren’t you. Things you were never meant to see. Visions that tell a different story from the memories you thought you had. A conundrum to what is real and what isn’t. Maybe someone didn’t want you to know about the past.” The last word is scrambled, like that of a message caught in decoding, never being able to be rendered. A light comes into vision that causes everything to be blinding. Coming back into focus, circular lights formed like a flower with one in the middle and several surrounding it. The more things begin to focus, Mack realizes she is laying on a medical bed in a room, paralyzed but calm. Hooked up to all sorts of machines with the voice of Adelaide ringing through, “The Scion Tenet, a heinous law put forth in the effort to preserve the Eden lifestyle. Population excess was a concern of the Eden government and had made many efforts to spread this concern to its citizens.” She pauses, sits up from a chair that is next to the medical bed you realize you’re in. See peers outside the room before sitting down and proceeding on. “The law forbade birthing of any creature within Eden and ordered the termination of any creature below the age of 18. With enforcement of this law birthed the Scion’s, golem’s tasks with enforcing the law and terminating any creature below the requirement.” Adelaide, angry with these words, stands up from the chair and leaned forward, looking at you from above. Something in her hand. “You were once a creature of Eden. Those labeled Malfrayed, a creature whose eq score is deviant from social acceptance. Your existence from one of those poor souls that the Emp’s captured and label a deviant required purging. Your memories were wiped, your records burned. I wish I knew who you were before being turned into a golem.” Adelaide pulls something from her pocket and quickly jams it into your neck. It hurts like a large needle injecting a stingy liquid. Mack recognizes this to be the moment she was free. Having the ability to sit up, Mack does quickly but is brought back down by Adelaide. “My daughter Charlotte is currently in hiding because of this cruel world. My husband wants to stay in Eden and with his power and influence hide Charlotte till she turns 18. I think this place is the most evil. I want to take her away from here but it’s not that easy. I need your help Scion”. Her voice fades along with the vision. Jaz’s face comes into view, with a look of knowing what Mack just experienced. In Mack’s head, she hears, “When you realize you have created a monster, would you save it?” Cowardice befalls the most powerful. To turn away from what monstrosities you were capable of and what grew from your seeds, it doesn’t ever go away. Jaz dusts off snow from the impending snow storm starting in the cavern. Looks towards Edmeera.
The Exchange
Edmeera says she’ll do the exchange. Ember speaks out and says no. Edmeera ignores. The snow flakes stand frozen in mid air. Muvara appears. Inner tranquility comes quickly. Paralyzed in a peaceful form. Edmeera smiles, “I will make this quick child.” Sirius drops to the ground, coughing and choking but seemingly in a better state. The fine wires that were holding him now begin to surround Muvara, making a move to restrain the Goddex but Muvara, with tears starting to come down their face, looks towards Xanthos. Xanthos throws two swords in the air, landing in front of Ember and Orianna. Xanthos, says in the minds of Ember and Orianna. Please take these, until you are ready to let go. Xanthos turns his head towards Muvara, a look of encouragement as he starts to lower his head. The wires pull tight as Muvara is restrained and pulled up into the air. Muvara says, with glassy eyes of emotion, “Spiritus martyris”(Spirit Martyr) Xanthos says, with a calm tone, “Omnes mori in fine”(Everyone Dies in the End) Muvara with a voice of emotion, “Vale Pater” (Bye Father) Xanthos kneels, with a low, calm, melancholy voice, “Puer Vale” (Bye Child) A Necrotic energy is blasted throughout the cavern, destroying rock structures and melting snow. Radiant Shield barriers appeared around all of the adventures and negated this destructive energy. The cavern shows a very violent display of snow and debris, gaining sight after being blinded by the shield barrier’s light. Xanthos is dissolving into nothing by the means of black particles coming off his form. Muvara was also caught in this violent dance. Muvara now bears a black bandage over their eyes and wings forming similar to Xanthos on Muvara’s back, pushing back Edmeera’s killing strings. Xanthos’ energy and essence seems to be flowing into Muvara until he is no more. Muvara collapses onto the floor, after floating in air briefly during this spectacle. On all fours, breathing hard, the silent killer, the fine wires Edmeera had started to kill Muvara, seemed to be now at bay. Jaz giving a smirk of enjoyment, “Muvara now has domain Edmeera.” Edmeera, a voice of no emotion, “It’s always the way Jaz. You meddle with me the most, pinche coño(fuckin/damn pussy). Afraid of what you created. Yllena was always and forever your mistake. It’s the mortals that will defy us in the end.” A look of disdain from Edmeera as Muvara lets out a loud scream, holding till their voice goes horse and disappears from view. “A final wish, the one rumored Yeivesa committed to Xanthos. Now I see my part in all this. My attempt to kill Muvara was the wish’s end.” Edmeera looks at Orianna and Ember, the barriers now lifted. “I see and hear them now. A positive outcome from all of this. I know where to send Cassara to find you Ember. She should be at the airship by now. I’ll go have a talk. Ember, if you come to kill me, I will take you down with me. It’s one thing to transfer a domain.” She pauses, looks at Jazouhr and smiles, “Killing a God will be different.” Edmeera disappears. Jaz, not smiling, disappears as well. The winter gale from the tree grows violent now.
Escape
The group head out of the cavern with the help of Tavina, the entity inside of the newly aquired blade, Sol. Tavina, though weak and crabby, showed the group the way out by the way of talking with Peach. The group made it back to the huge crevasse that they all came down but from the bottom it proved to be a bigger task as the top was 500 ft from where they stood. Aydriann, teleported up to figure out if there was anything that could be used to get the rest up. A few secs he teleported up, he was greeted by a large werewolf. The werewolf, with white fur, and very large for its species, didn’t attack. It asked about Dax and if he was Aydriann. The werewolf also had rope in his hand that would allow for the group members, without means of getting up on their own, to get to the top. Aydriann asked who this werewolf was and the werewolf replied that he was Adrian Blackwood, the old man who was guarding the waterfall shortcut. He wanted to talk to Dax about the creature who looked like Elira. Aydriann have Dax a heads up and then restrained the werewolf to be safe. When Dax made it back up to the top of the chasm’s edge he headed over to Adrian Blackwood to talk. Adrian knew that the Syn was no longer bound and would eventually freeze the ice cavern and fill it with snow. Adrian wanted to ask Dax if Elira was ok. Dax responded that she was okay. Adrian said she was an outcast and wasn’t treated very well. He looked out for her till the cult banished him to the waterfall because him being a werewolf. He hadn’t seen her in a while since she left to Icesyn. The group wanted Adrian to join them but Adrian revealed some grave news that he couldn’t leave. A runestone was keeping him in the cavern. The group used locate item and destroyed the stone to release Adrian.
The Monster Hunter
Eventually making it back to where Elira was frozen in place, on the verge of death, Peach pierces Elira with the Sol blade, reversing the effects that Noite had placed on her. Elira, filled with joy, that Peach would save her, the one called the outcast. Elira, Peach and Adrian Blackwood, engage in a group hug as Zavrun slowly climbed out of the tree. Zavrun had been keeping Elira save while the group head off towards the weapon. The sound of an airship could be heard in the distance which causes the reunion to be interrupted. Elira announced that she had given the coordinates to Captain William Ramos to have the airship come when they were able. So with no surprise to Elira, the Valiant had landed near by. The group headed onto the ship to rest and talk about the next steps. Venoxyin stopped Aydriann, alerting the group that there was a Veil Binder on board the ship hunting Gaston.
