Session 22
A calming and dazeing sensation is forced upon the two mages, about to duel to the death, along with the crowd and the group. Ember looks to Rain as they seem to be the source and asks what happened? Rain is apologetic and says they have made a big mistake and starts to run off but Ember tries to grab their hand. Ember almost resists the calming and dazeing sensation but is overcome and isn’t able to grab. Rain looks towards Ember and says for her to meet them at the place they meet Yeivesa if she wants answers. She runs off and a few moments later the sensation felt by the crowd and the two mages disappear. The two mages preparing to duel drop their wands. The crowd starts to boo as the two walk off the dueling ring. Ember makes chase for Tiefling by the name of Ezra. The others head back to the tents to find something to eat.
Ember walks with Ezra and the two start to talk about the duel and the days leading up to it along with his love for Keyvath and what his thoughts are on her. He thinks he would have not gone through with it and let her kill him. Keyvath was the competitive one and was the reason he went through with it. They both end back at the tent of the fate teller. Ember asks Ezra why the Eldon Order. Ezra says it due to the knowledge and power they hold. The Eldon Order also has much influence with leaders. Ezra points out that Ember is a fire genasi and asks her questions about her past. Ezra tells Ember that wizard’s folly is the birthplace of the genasi and that the event left a barren wasteland.
The others stumble upon an out of place shop called Peach Sunset. Peach Sunset is also the name of the Tiefling that runs the shop, selling wood carvings and arcane trinkets. Melina asks if Peach is a follower of Ozana to which he replies, yes. Melina then notices a ball. Gears unwind it to reveal a butterfly made of gears that leaves a glowing trail. Melina buys it for 5 gp and calls it flutter. Aydriann buys a wood carving of a bird. Victor browses the shop as Aydriann and Peach have a conversation. Peach hadn’t been in Volaris for too long and was a traveling merchant.
The conversation is cut short with several portals opening. Beautiful winged creatures of reptilian eyes all start to chant “We’re here to find the one who hides from Edmeera and be her eyes and ears. She will come once we have found the one. She will kill so that others will feel pain. She will kill within the blood laws. We will kill anyone who is in the way. Which would be everyone.”
A portal opens up near the group with Ember nearby with one of these winged creatures. It attacks the group
