The Masks of God
Section titled “The Masks of God”- Muvara reveals herself to the group, offering them a new path, different from the one laid out by Xanthos. She begins by speaking to Ember.
- To Ember, Muvara gifts a Spirit Walker Mask, allowing her to channel power through it rather than through the quest of Xanthos. Muvara admits that she still cherishes Xanthos but recognizes the wrongs done, and now seeks to set them right.
- To the twins, she speaks of seeking answers for how the world has changed.
- To Dax, she declares that he will become the Storyteller of the Departed, the voice of those who have passed.
- To the rest of the group, Muvara promises to walk with them, cloaking them from the eyes of those who would spy.
Weapon of the Sun
Section titled “Weapon of the Sun”- Muvara departs. Soon after, Sol, the Weapon of the Sun, surges with radiant power. Light, bright as the sun itself, blazes forth from the weapon.
- Seryna recoils as the light burns her, intensifying the “hunger” within. Overwhelmed, she leaves the Dark Spire.
- Peach beholds Sol, now awakened in its full brilliance.
Shadow puppets
Section titled “Shadow puppets”A Creature of Destruction
Section titled “A Creature of Destruction”- At dawn, Seryna returns and meets Aydriann. They speak privately: Seryna gives him a vial of her father’s blood, instructing him to use it to paralyze her…and if necessary, to stab her through the heart…should her hunger drive her to attack the group.
Last Leg of the Journey
Section titled “Last Leg of the Journey”- The party discusses their return and votes to take the fastest route: traveling by boat, then using Wind Walk once in Umbrathorne.
- Their journey is swift, yet unease grows. Upon reaching Maeryn’s Fortress, they sense unseen eyes watching.
The Price of Passage
Section titled “The Price of Passage”- Inside the fortress, the group delivers the book to Maeryn. But when it comes time for him to uphold his bargain, he claims that circumstances have changed: Seryna cannot be transferred to Fornova because of Lelune’s Cursed Deal.
- Lelune herself arrives, offering a counter-bargain: she will release Seryna, Vyrelin, and Chloe to Fornova, lifting the curse of vampirism. In return, she would be allowed to see through Orianna’s and Aydriann’s eyes, though some truths would remain hidden.
- Venoxyin will eventually lose her vampiric bloodline.
