Session 57
Red Crystal
Section titled “Red Crystal”The red crystal clings to a silvery chain that dangles from the blade hilt, taunting a vision, a look into the past … a past that can only be described as utter lies, betrayal from those you thought you knew. Like a moth to the flame, it grabs the attention; it blurs the surroundings. The red crystal starts to set a scene and invade reality.
A familiar smell, a mixture of snow and rain that falls from the sky … Ember feels it on her skin briefly as it melts quickly to her anger that remains constant, being placed suddenly into a familiar place. Muvara’s path, with clouds that cover the sun’s rays to leave a gloomy scene. Ember stands behind two creatures that sit on steps leading up to a temple. A creature wearing a wool cloak and robe with a porcelain mask of a bear stares towards a group of four Volarians: Enoki, a male halfir with fair skin and blue eyes; Aydriann, a gnome with orange hair and orange eyes; Ember, the Cindari … she sees herself, radiant with fury, her red skin peeking from her cloak as she hides; and Victor, a large human with brown hair, brown eyes, and a muscular build.
The one named Enoki says, “They are spirit freaks, just ignore them.” The four Volarians keep walking down a path away from the two creatures staring at them.
Xanthos, hidden from view it seems as no one notices him there, speaks to Muvara … the one cloaked in wool and wearing the porcelain mask of a bear. “I think she saw you this time.”
Muvara keeps staring but says, “You patronize. I’m only curious about the group. Besides, Ember has fallen for Preslynn the Faylorin. She is pretty; I would never get her attention with my mortal form.”
Xanthos replies, “Yet here you are, staring at her like many times before, never actually making yourself known. The mortals call this creepy and might accuse you of stalking.”
Muvara says, “Mortals normally cast the spirit walkers aside from their glance.” Muvara stares up briefly to look at where Xanthos would be before returning back to stare at the group that is now a fading glimpse away. “You know this. You’re patronizing me still.”
Xanthos says, “Just be you … awkward. Many relationships start that way.”
Muvara responds, “I have to go. Enoki killed his sister a few months ago, and his remorseful emotions have a confused spirit following him.”
“Just be you,” Xanthos repeats.
A Restful Night’s Sleep
Section titled “A Restful Night’s Sleep”The group settles in to rest for the night. Aydriann has a vision of Jaz conversing with a female moon elf, a female tiefling, and a male human. Jaz eventually talks with Aydriann, telling him that Jaz will visit him one last time. Aydriann awakens to a horrible transformation where he loses his ability to speak but gains the ability to send his thoughts as if he were having a conversation.
Ember picks up on Preslynn’s anxieties and suggests a date to try and get a little bit of normalcy back in their lives.
Orianna and Sirius talk about the past and how things have come to the present. Peach and Elira talk a bit and agree that they are best friends. Sirius and Peach also talk about the past and some hurtful things that have happened. Orianna and Peach find out that Sirius has lost his powers since the event of the three deities. Mack rests with unease as Dax has a conversation with what seems to be two versions of Fungar. Dax was thinking of boots when a darker version of Fungar reminds him of Mack’s arm.
Awaken to a New Day
Section titled “Awaken to a New Day”The group awakens and follows Aydriann to the top of the ship. Aydriann aims to head to the crow’s nest, but the group notices that everyone else on the ship is huddled around the bard, Drakar, who is next to the Veil Binder, Aemon Darkthorn. Drakar is playing a tune, entertaining the denizens of the ship.
