Session 67
Preslynn tackles Ember while Aqol faces hostility until Dax vouches for him. Aydriann and Peach head to the top deck to ask what’s going on. Aydriann suggests meeting in the library, and Peach is put in charge of Aqol, leaving Elira to guard him. Dax visits Mack and talks about his adventure at the Kaicrumao and his need to get to the Dark World.
On the way to the library, Dax stops by the mess hall for an apple and bumps into Aqol, who is distracted by Ember’s messages. Aqol had escaped from Elira, which prompted Ember to send the messages. Meanwhile, Orianna is in the Conservatory, speaking with Muvara, who encourages her to take on the quest, not for forgiveness but because it’s the right thing to do.
A strange light speaks to Aydriann, annoying him. The voice sounds familiar, and Aydriann wants some time alone with the source, hiding from Ember’s “See Invisibility” spell. Eventually, everyone gathers in the library to make plans. Ember tells Peach about Sol, and Peach speaks with Tavina, then Segunia.
Orianna goes to apologize to Peach for not being there for her as a child when their father was abusive to everyone in the family. Dax and Mack talk about the past, while Aydriann asks Jaz about the sprite and the forbiddance spell.
Reunion
As Ember steps through the painting Aqol made for both her and Dax, she is able to gracefully land on the other side of the painting. The painting felt like a window to the ship, yet they had been thousands miles away on the school grounds of the Kaicrumao. Stepping through it and landing the ship was a bit disorienting for Ember.
Aqol was the last to step through, Dax having been the first, then Ember. The crew members held their ice picks towards Aqol as he appeared out of thin air. Dax rushes to say, “Wait wait wait, he is with me. He is a cool guy.” Dax pauses to see if anyone got his humor. Unfortunately the fates didn’t favor Dax receiving laughter in the moment.
A short figure was running towards the three, who remained unseen behind the crew of the ship. Ember senses this and turns to meet her attacker. The figure jumps out from behind the crew members and tackles Ember to the ground. Ember feels fingers glide through her hair as another hand grabs the back of her head and pulls it close to familiar lips. Ember’s dazed vision comes into focus to realize its Preslynn, as her lips interlock with hers. Ember lets go as the two begin to intertwine bodies for all to see.
The crew members and everyone else, let down their defenses and start to look busy, not lingering too long with the scene that Preslynn and Ember were playing. Aydriann and Peach come up to the top of the ship to check out what is happening. Aydriann says, “Glad you can make it back. Who the fuck is this?” Aydriann points to Aqol.
Dax steps up, “This is Aqol and he is the reason we are here now.”
Aydriann frowned, “By the divine, hope to pray this isn’t another dumbass judgement you have made. For all we know he could be another assassin.”
Dax looked confused, “Assassin?”
Aydriann backing off his tone to a bit calmer, “Yeah, you should talk to Mack about what happened, she is sitting in her room this morning.” Dax begins to move towards the stairs to head in the direction where he can find Mack. Aydriann tells Dax, “I was thinking about heading to the library to plan about our next steps when you get done talking to Mack.” Dax pauses briefly to nod and then continues on.
Peach looked at Aqol, who seemed to be anxious about how the events had unfolded. Aqol had leap through the portal because of an invitation Dax gave. Aqol had only met Dax the day before. It all happened to fast. Aqol did things he didn’t thing of doing before, jumping through his paintings and going on a day long excursion
