Session 127
Prologue
Section titled “Prologue”Under the twin moons Esmerai and Estrella, Peach spots an outpost on the horizon - and a Yashara: a piebald feline woman moving across the sand with restless, alert energy despite the dead of night. The outpost is makeshift, its perimeter lashed together from scavenged materials, but at its center sits a massive shape the size of a multi-story building, shrouded under heavy canvas. Peach unfocuses his gaze and catches a flicker of light in his periphery - Lux, the little spirit boy, gives a cheerful silent wave.
Part 1: The Outpost
Section titled “Part 1: The Outpost”The Broken Compass
Section titled “The Broken Compass”Regrouping after the forced teleport out of Craze Pass, the party takes stock. Tess uses her resonance magic to reshape her homunculus chassis into a rock-like form. Lux, the spirit boy in the Nyxlight compass, is back - but his tether is severed, so he can no longer point a light-path to a target, only act as a rough proximity sensor. He points toward a massive, multi-colored storm wall flashing with lightning in the distance. Navani confirms it: the “Eye” of the Folly, a volatile Folly Core, lies within that Maelstrom.
Social Engineering the Outpost
Section titled “Social Engineering the Outpost”Rather than fight, Dax and Orianna approach the outpost to parley with the guard, Navani, a feline-humanoid chimera. Reading her skittish posture, Orianna uses Common Sign Language to de-escalate - they’re weary travelers seeking rest. It works, and Navani goes to summon her superiors.
The Captains Emerge
Section titled “The Captains Emerge”Two figures come out to size up the party: Captain Saivenath (“Sai”), a Venathi (air-kin) with chalk-white skin, floating white hair, and shifting black tattoos; and Trixs, a dark-skinned human with bright green eyes and half-shaved black hair in a regal, roguish outfit. Sai welcomes them.
The Eldon Order’s Strike
Section titled “The Eldon Order’s Strike”In tense talks, Sai reveals her airship is grounded and badly damaged - recently ambushed by Caerulith while distracted by a five-man squad of mages in desert garb, confirming the Eldon Order is active in the Folly. The ship’s aether-crystal is wrecked and can’t lift.
The Plan
Section titled “The Plan”To get the airship flying as an extraction vehicle, the party needs a new aether-crystal from a nearby cave - a known death-trap where many scavengers have already perished.
Part 2: Trixs’s Tent
Section titled “Part 2: Trixs’s Tent”The Magi-Tech Mansion
Section titled “The Magi-Tech Mansion”Curiosity draws the group to Trixs’s tent, whose interior bends space - double doors beneath a spiral staircase open into a huge library of books and cushioned seating. Trixs offers a wager: a shot of glowing liquid from a blue bottle promising true “enlightenment” and visions. Ember and Aydriann accept, and immediately slump unconscious into the chairs, eyes rolling back.
Psychological Crucible
Section titled “Psychological Crucible”Inside the vision, Ember and Aydriann face hard truths:
- The Orphanage: Ember relives a memory of an orphanage caretaker starving the children, with a younger Ember stealing food to feed them.
- The Conclave’s Brutality: Aydriann watches his brother Corsten beg their parents to spare a young dwarf; because the Conclave exiles or executes anyone deemed “useless” or non-gnome, the dwarf is pushed off the ledge.
- Preslynn’s Betrayal: The vision shifts to a bioluminescent grove where Ember sees Preslynn pleading with a chalk-white antlered figure and Edmeera - implying Preslynn is bound by a dark pact to Edmeera, framing her as a traitor.
Orianna’s Find
Section titled “Orianna’s Find”Orianna searches Trixs’s library and finds a book on the history of Eistrae, uncovering lore about an ancient ascension ritual attempted by mages in a city called Wonder - context for how Wizard’s Folly was made.
Part 3: The Trickster’s Truths
Section titled “Part 3: The Trickster’s Truths”The Trickster’s Game
Section titled “The Trickster’s Game”With Aydriann and Ember unconscious, the social load falls on Peach and Orianna. Trixs sets an “equivalent exchange” rule: they must answer probing, personal questions to earn cosmic truths.
Fornova’s Real Timeline
Section titled “Fornova’s Real Timeline”Trixs dismantles their understanding of the world. Fornova’s recorded history is a fabrication - it isn’t eons old but only about 4,000 years. She also exposes the truth about Aydriann’s patron, Jazouhr (Jaz): not an omnipotent god, but a severed shard of a much larger, destroyed deity, holding the raw power of creation and chaos - the entity that originally forged the Edryms.
The Mask Drops
Section titled “The Mask Drops”Pushed by Peach’s questioning, Trixs admits her true identity: she is Ozana, who had earlier disguised herself as a merchant the party met at Mythlight campus at the Kaicrumao. She also shares intel on Edmeera.
The Garthos Threat
Section titled “The Garthos Threat”Her most urgent warning is for Peach: his abusive father, Garthos, has ascended, allied with Edmeera’s forces, and is now actively hunting Peach, Orianna, and Elira.
